Caribbean American Heritage Month

Note: This event has already passed.

June is the month that we commemorate Caribbean Americans and their Heritage. Like most Heritage months, it all began when the U.S. House of Represntatives adopted it in 2005 to recognize the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United Sates.

The resolution passed the Senage in February 2006 and President George H.W. Bush issued the proclamation in June 2006. Since the declaration the White House has issued an annual proclamation recognizing June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month. The commemoration of Caribbean American Heritage Month targets to remind Americans that our greatness lies in our diversity.

In support of Caribbean Heritage Month, Family and MWR will host an observance June 21 at the Historic Hacienda. There will be complimentary food sampling, entertainment and a guest speaker.
